Just WHAT IS All-District Honor Choir???
The ADHC is a group of the area's TOP middle-school (6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade) singers. Usually, there are two different choirs, a "treble" choir of only Sopranos and Altos (some of which are boys) and a "mixed" choir of girls and boys singing in 4-parts: Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. There are generally somewhere between 100-120 kids in each group.
If you are successfull in your November audition, then you will be awarded the opportunity to sing in the all-district event in January or February. Stay tuned for more details as they are available.

Rehearsal Files
Just click on the Voice Part that you plan to sing for the audition. The accompaniment file will open in a new window and play in the proper key. During the actual audition, you will sing with the exact same accompaniment.

To: 6th- and 7th-grade choir members interested in all-district choir
From: Mr. Riley
Hello. I just want to make sure that all of the parents know about the upcoming Jr. All-District Choir audition being held Saturday, November 2 at Patrick Henry High School in Glade Spring, VA. This is a great chance to grow as a musician as well as getting to compete at the district level. Getting into the all-district choir is a great honor—and trying out itself can be a lot of fun!
If you are interested in going, please sign the attached commitment form and return it to me and the GCPC parent permission form. I need these in order to know how many I’ll be taking. The fee to register is $6. The fee and permission forms are due by Friday, Oct. 11. If you need to write a check, please make it out to your school.
We’ll need to leave GHS in Pearisburg in the morning, but we’re still waiting for our time assignments to know exactly what time. The sooner we get everyone registered, the sooner we know what time we leave. On the day of, please be there a few minutes ahead-of-time so that we can leave punctually. I’ve had to leave a few sleepyheads behind occasionally! It is painful. If you would like to come along as a chaperone, please let me know.
WHAT TO BRING: There will be (should be? hopefully?) a snack bar at Patrick Henry High School, and we’ll most likely find a McDonald’s or something on the way home, so bringing $10 or so for food would be wise. Or, bring your own sack lunch & snacks & water bottle. If you’re prone to motion sickness, bring some Dramamine. A blanket &/or pillow for the 2 hour bus ride is also nice. Wear comfy clothes. We’ll be gone much of the day. I hope to be back no later than 3, but I can’t make any guarantees yet.
*MONEY *SNACKS/(LUNCH?) *PILLOW/BLANKET
*WATER BOTTLE *AUDITION MUSIC *COMFY CLOTHES
If you have questions, please email me or visit rileychoir.weebly.com online to get more information and listen to the practice tracks.
One (hopefully) Small Apology:
A very dear friend is getting married on the same day in North Carolina. I am not allowed to miss it. Therefore, my wife is kindly chaperoning the kids to the audition. She is the Family and Consumer Science teacher at Giles High School, as well as having a Master’s Degree in Music. So, you will be in very capable hands. I am very sorry that I cannot go.
Thank you,
Kevin Riley
